About Us

Purple Essences began in 2020. The hands behind it have been making textiles since 1996.

For three decades our family has woven, dyed, printed and finished home textiles for retailers and hospitality groups across the United States and Europe. You have almost certainly used what we make without ever seeing our name on it — that is what white-label manufacturing is. The napkin folded on a hotel table, the kitchen towel in a national retailer's own-brand range: those came off looms like ours, made to specifications written by people like us.

Purple Essences is the first time we have put our own name on the work.

Our own factory, and a US company

Purple Essences LLC is based in Austin, Texas. The mill is ours too — a second-generation family business in southern India, in a region that has woven cotton for export for more than a century.

Owning both ends is the whole point. Auto looms, jacquard and dobby weaving, soft-flow dyeing, rotary and digital printing, multi-head embroidery, quilting and automated hemming all happen under one roof. Nothing is handed to a supplier we have never walked through. When a seam is wrong, we walk to the machine and fix it.

It is also why our prices look the way they do. There is no importer, no brand licensor and no distributor between the loom and your table.

Why it matters at your table

Thirty years of making other people's products teaches you what fails — which hems fray after twenty washes, which prints fade, which weights drape and which hang like cardboard. We built Purple Essences to make the version we would keep for ourselves.
